How to claim your Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV from Bitcoin Core

There are a couple different ways to claim your Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV (Satoshi's Vision), but the easiest method I've found is by importing your private keys into the electrum wallets, these are great because you don't need to download the entire blockchain, just import your private keys and you can instantly send your coins where you'd like.

How to export private keys from Bitcoin Core

The first step to claim your Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV is to export your private keys, this is a relatively simple process done through the Bitcoin Core software.

1. Download Bitcoin Core if you don't already have this, it may take some time to sync and setup.
2. In your Bitcoin Core wallet, Click on the Window tab then click Console
   
   
   
3. For each of your Receiving addresses, type in the command dumpwallet "C:\Users\Luke\Desktop\walletdump.txt", this will output all the private keys for your wallet to a text file
   
4. Now that you have all the private keys, open the text file and select all the keys, skipping the first four lines of comments and the last line.
5. Copy the text and open a new Excel spreadsheet, paste the information into the spreadsheet.
6. With the data selected, go to Data, and click Text to Columns
   
7. Select Delimited and then click next
   
8. Select Space as the delimiter, then click finish
   
9. Scroll down to the bottom of the spreadsheet and delete any rows that have 0 for the date as these wont work.
   
10. Now you have all the private keys, select all the data in Column A, these are your private keys we are going to paste into the Electrum wallets.

Claiming your Bitcoin Cash from Bitcoin Core

Claiming your Bitcoin Cash coins is super easy using the Electrum Cash wallet, you can simply import the private keys and access your coins within minutes without having to download the entire Bitcoin Cash blockchain.

1. Download the Electrum Cash software from https://electroncash.org/ I like to use the portable version because then you can easily delete it afterwards.
   
2. Run the Electrum Cash app you downloaded, Select auto-connect for server and click Next
3. For wallet, accept defaults and click next
   
4. On the next page click "Import Bitcoin Cash addresses or private keys" and click Next
   
5. Now you should see a page with a textbox, this is where you will paste all of your private keys from the first step. Paste in your private keys from Excel then click Next.
6. You may optionally create a password, you can leave this blank and click next if desired.
7. Your keys are now imported and you should have a balance, it may take 1 minute to update, after which you may send your coins where you'd like.

Claiming your Bitcoin SV from Bitcoin Core

The process to claim your Bitcoin SV coins is very similar to the process for claiming your Bitcoin Cash, virtually identical, just using the Electrum SV wallet instead. You can access your coins through the ElectrumSV wallet without having to wait for the entire Bitcoin SV blockchain to download.

1. Download the ElectrumSV software from https://electrumsv.io/ again use the portable version if you don't intend to keep the wallet.
   
2. Run the Electrum SV app you downloaded, Select auto-connect for server and click Next
3. For wallet, accept defaults and click next
4. On the next page click "Import Bitcoin Cash addresses or private keys" and click Next
5. Now you should see a page with a textbox, this is where you will paste all of your private keys from the first step. Paste in your private keys from Excel then click Next.
6. You may optionally create a password, you can leave this blank and click next if desired.
7. Your keys are now imported and you should have a balance, it may take 1 minute to update, after which you may send your coins where you'd like.
